Supporting war-torn Health Facilities in Northern Ethiopia

In November 2020, more than 3,000 health facilities have been destroyed due to an armed conflict in northern part of Ethiopia. The conflict has resulted in up to 5 million people, especially children and women suffering from inadequate or no medical care.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Health has made a call to all Ethiopians both at home and abroad, donor organizations, and the civil society to support its effort to restore destructed health facilities.
Currently, Restore Hope focus on supporting the restoration of the following four health institutions:
  • Kobo Primary Hospital (200 000 patients per year)
  • Kombolcha General Hospital (2 million patients per year)
  • Woldia Specialized Hospital (3 million patients per year)
  • Kalwan Primary Hospital (130 000 patients per year)
So far, Restore Hope helped to restore  Kobo Primary Hospital by sourcing medical supply and equipment from Switzerland and directly delivering to the site. The support for the rest of health facilities will continue in different phases.
